Building a multidisciplinary team

How is the discipline mapping derived?

From how these projects are actually staffed — a factory almost always needs civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, HVAC, fire, automation and safety input, whatever the brief says at the start. The mapping is a starting point that you edit, not a rule that constrains you.

Do I have to hire everyone at once?

No. A common pattern is to start with the disciplines that drive the critical path — often structural and process — and bring the others in as the design firms up. The workroom supports adding parties to an existing contract without restarting.

Who is responsible for coordination between disciplines?

Whoever you appoint as lead. If you assemble the team yourself, you can nominate a lead engineer from within it; if you ask the platform to assemble the team, a named lead and discipline leads are part of the structure. Coordination is a role that has to be assigned to someone — it does not happen by default.

Is the indicative total a quote?

No. It is typical rates multiplied by a nominal engagement, which is useful for a sanity check and nothing more. Real pricing comes from proposals against your actual scope, and it can differ substantially in either direction.
