Discipline tells you what an engineer can calculate. Industry tells you whether they have met the constraints your sector actually imposes — the approvals, the operating environment, the failure modes that matter, and the conventions your reviewers expect to see.
Filter on mining experience alongside discipline and standard. An engineer who has delivered in your sector will ask better questions in the first conversation, which is usually the clearest signal you will get before you hire.
